Magnuson Dental Design wants to make sure this Halloween its a fun and safe family outing. We all love to have candy, but remember it’s the frequency of contact with teeth not the quantity that produces cavities. Stick candy can get stuck in between the teeth and stay there for long periods of time as the candy slowly dissolves. This acts like a time-release capsule and allows the presence of sugar to be in the mouth for a much longer period of time. Be sure to drink water after consumption of candy to dilute the sugars in the mouth and make sure no candy prior to going to bed. Good oral hygiene habits year-round will ensure that one night of trick-or-treating won’t harm your children’s teeth. Have fun and don’t let the goblins get you.
